New School

The current Hockham School was commissioned and built in the early 1960’s and was officially opened on Monday July 23rd 1962. Included in the opening ceremony were songs by the school choir, one of which was John Barleycorn.

The school was designed by G. W. Oak and cost £13,281,  9 shillings and 8 pence. At the time some locals thought it a waste of money and not required, however it is fair to say that those thoughts were greatly misfounded.

Extensions have been made to the school over the years and its classroom sizes have increased considerably.
